Watersports Hub, Stranraer.

McEwan Grant Ltd are completing the joinery packages on the newly formed Watersports Hub in Stranraer.

This project is a passive house (Passivhaus) project which brings ultra energy efficiency and air tightness to this bespoke building.

The external works to the roof include a bespoke roof being formed traditionally with JJI Joist and many complicated design elements. 18mm marine ply fitted on top with a specialised 140mm wood fibre sarking insulation imported from Canada, all membranes taped and sealed to meet Passivhaus’ very high standards. We are also fitting very high quality roof lights to this magnificent building.

To the internal of the roof, we have fitted 300mm wood fibre insulation between JJI Joist then closed off with smart ply, again all joints taped and sealed to comply with Passivhaus standards. There are many other complex elements to this build.

Once the roof is water and air tight we will be moving on the internal fit out, more details to come soon.

This facility will provide the local area with a new water sports centre, bringing state of the art equipment to the locals and providing a base to host water sports competitions and festivals from.
